The Wellfleet Food Pantry’s long-awaited move to a new temporary home is now scheduled. On December 9, 2024 Pantry operations will leave Grace Chapel on Lt. Island Rd and take up residence in a large trailer at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church parking lot on Route 6, Wellfleet.
Shoppers will be able to pick up groceries as usual in the trailer, and there will be a place to drop off food donations as well. Days and hours of operation will stay the same except for Wednesdays, when the Pantry will open at 3:00 instead of 4:00, giving shoppers an additional hour.
“We remain deeply grateful to Grace Chapel for their longstanding support of the Pantry and very much appreciate that our Lady of Lourdes has been able to host us temporarily, now that we have outgrown our space at Grace Chapel,” said Pantry Board chair Sandy Galvin. “After Thursday, December 5, shoppers will find us at our new location.”
Jen Elsensohn, President of the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Council, said, “We look forward to welcoming our neighbors and fellow Wellfleet residents to shop at the Pantry, and we’re delighted to be able to help during this time of transition. Feeding the hungry is one of our most foundational missions as well.”
