CONSTRUCTION UPDATE FROM OUR FOOD PANTRY PRESIDENT
Three years ago we began to dream of providing Wellfleet residents with a permanent place to receive food, and to build community with each other and our volunteers. It was a big goal, but with the hard work of our dedicated volunteers and the tremendous support we have received from our donors and from the broader community, we’ve raised the funds to begin the work!
We have undertaken a thorough competitive bidding process and will be selecting the contractor to build our new pantry very shortly. We will work closely with them to control costs, while also assuring that our building will be energy efficient and will blend well with its surroundings. It’s been a challenging process, but fun, and we’re going to be excited to share our building plans with you.
Work to envision the inside of the new building and the needs of our shoppers is ongoing. We’re researching freezers, refrigerators, solar panels, lighting and the myriad other necessities for the pantry. Stay tuned for more information on how you can continue to make a difference and contribute to this second part of our building campaign.
