WELLFLEET, MA—
The Wellfleet Food Pantry has introduced a new logo. With fundraising well underway for construction of a new Pantry building in a location next to the Wellfleet Adult Community Center, board members felt it was time to replace the current logo– a black and white paper bag with groceries– yet still maintain the “Food for Neighbors” tagline. The group commissioned the services of a local artist, who provided the new design pro bono.
To reflect the Wellfleet Food Pantry’s very hometown feeling, and the arts tradition Wellfleet is famous for, the logo contains hand drawn fonts and a whimsical capital W that outlines a carrot and a fish. These healthy foods are often available at the Pantry, and the fish represents Wellfleet’s seafood tradition. The Pantry is a warm, welcoming place for both volunteers and shoppers, and the logo was designed to embody that ambience.
Sandy Galvin, the president of the Pantry, commented, “Our new logo graphically reflects our mission as a food pantry. It not only embraces our tradition of providing nutritious food at no cost to folks facing food insecurity, but also the character of the town, whose residents both need and support the pantry in so many ways. We are now anxious to put our new logo to use.”
